Seaweed Sketchbook

Introducing our new sketchbook, The Seaweed Sketchbook, which comes in 2 sizes, B6 (18x13cm) or b5 (25x18cm). It consists of 96 pages of ivory uncoated 120gsm paper-stock. Sewn lay flat binding with Notpla seaweed 300gsm cover-stock that’s doubled up for an ultra thick cover-stock.

Notpla is made from seaweed. Seaweed that has been harvested to replace oils in plastics. Seaweed is one of natures most renewable resources, it’s globally abundant and fast growing. This sea vegetable is one of our greatest weapons against climate change, ocean acidification and absorbing carbon. Seaweed (and this sketchbook) is biodegradable

Each sketchbook comes wrapped in a digital print from Shirley Hibbards “The Seaweed collector” a rare book detailing sea vegetables and marine biology.

Since I began bookbinding my mother (a journalist) have been developing and discussing what makes the perfect notebook.

A sewn lay flat binding that’s a useful size and hearty but not too heavy.

I think we’ve done it.
